conversations

collaborative paintings

These paintings represent a series of conversations between Sande Waters and Kathryn Gibson O’Regan. The act of creating art is often described as a dialogue involving a conversation between the artist and the work. The painting often dictates to the artist what it needs, essentially becoming a voice that may influence its direction. When more than one artist is involved in this dialogue – both artists are being ‘told’ what to do next, and both have a ‘say’ in the conversation. Now, the dialogue evolves into a complex exchange between two painters who converse with the painting and between themselves.  These paintings often contain information about the artists or psychological insights into topics of mutual interest and concern.
